Temporary Roof Unite the Union, Leeds
Our client contacted us regarding a design for a fully sheeted independent scaffold with various beamed sections over adjoining properties and temporary roof structure, this was to be constructed on the Unite the Union building in Leeds. This project was further complicated by the fact that the temporary roof was to be initially built with the top 4m of the scaffold untied to the building, this was due to the existing roof being removed before constructing an additional storey on the building.
To overcome this, we primarily had to think about how we could restrain the upper section of the scaffold and roof against the applied wind loadings. It was therefore decided that by installing 450mm lattice beams vertically to the outside of the independent scaffold, we were able to effectively restrain the loads.
